Take action to reduce the impact of serious driving

Are you a strict driver? Normal driving is defined as stable driving in non-extreme weather or environments, so for most drivers today, harsh driving is a rule rather than an exception. According to reports from some non-profit organizations, serious driving includes:

  • Traffic jam
  • Short commute
  • Heavier load: cargo, passenger or towing trailer
  • Rugged or mountainous road
  • Dust or salty environment
  • Driving in very hot or cold weather

Although most drivers are considered "serious" by definition, there are several simple steps that can limit vehicle wear and improve fuel economy. By taking action, your vehicle will operate safely, reliably and efficiently, and will be properly maintained and repaired in the next few years, regardless of driving conditions.

The Car Care Committee recommends that motorists pay attention to car care and take some simple steps to reduce the impact of serious driving on their vehicles.

Please follow the “strict” repair schedule in the user manual.

  • Check fluids more frequently, including oil and filters.
  • Check certain parts regularly, such as brakes and shock absorbers.
  • Observe the speed limit. Miles are rapidly reduced above 60 mph.
  • Avoid quick start and stop. Active driving can reduce fuel consumption.
  • Don't drag unwanted things into the trunk, because overweight will reduce fuel economy.
  • Adjust your car to increase fuel consumption.
